Party ideas, Ballet games and Dancing fun (Part 2)

This blog is a continuation of ideas for ballerina children’s parties. A few weeks ago, I had great fun running a summer ballet workshop for little dancers aged between 4 and 7. Here are the next 5 tried and tested ideas:

  1. A trip to see the queen- This was a fun-filled adventure all danced to classical music. It started off with ‘the Queen’ sending a letter to the children and asking them to do different tasks ready for her ball. We picked apples for apple crumble, went fishing for fish and chips and even caught butterflies to release into the beautiful ballroom. You could follow this adventure or make your own one up to suit your party theme.

  2. Decorate the ballerina- I had planned to do this activity but due to current covid guidelines I was unable. However, this would be a fantastic addition to a children’s party. The idea of this game is based upon the classic ‘’Buckaroo’’. One child stands in a ballet pose and the rest of the party has to decorate them being careful to balance items of clothing or props so that they don’t fall off.

  3. Design your own ballet bun- The children loved this activity. I collected 3 different Barbie styling heads and got everyone to design their own ballet buns in teams. The best bun wins!

  4. Shoot the hoop- This simply involves throwing squash balls into a rubber ring. A little bit of background music makes this a fun and exciting game.

  5. Bouncing ballerinas- Find a piece of music which begins slowly and speeds up. Students start off by clapping the rhythm followed by jumping. I used a lyrical version of heads shoulder knees and toes but you can use any song that gradually gets faster.
