Good Toes, Naughty Toes and Tidying up
The art of the perfect point is something which ballerinas spend mastering for a long time. It is true that some people will have a natural arched foot which is often paired with a beautiful, curved point. But it is also true that the range of movement in the foot can be worked on and therefore everybody has the chance to develop pointier toes.
One of the ways to work on your point is by releasing the fascia to assist the pliability of the feet. Using a small pet ‘fetch ball’, you can massage the base of the foot forwards and back, circularly and side to side. The beauty of this exercise is that it can be done whilst sitting on the floor watching your favourite TV series…the best kind of multi-tasking!
Another one to do whilst watching TV, involves getting into a seated position on the floor with the legs stretched out in front of you. You can then practice flexing the feet upwards and pointing them down to the floor nice and slowly travelling through all of the tiny joints in your toes- you may know this one as the classic good toes naughty toes!
Another easy exercise useful for strengthening the toes involves tidying up things off the floor. In this exercise carefully use your toes to pick up small items then drop them into a neat pile in front of you. Items may include a hairband, a tissue or a sock. Doing this will help you to strengthen the toes individually.
So, there you have it, three easy exercises to help create pointier toes all whilst watching tv and doing some tidying up!
